GLUTTONY: The Gateway Sin : part one

WE LIVE. For that, we work. Consequently, we earn. At last, we have money, we eat.

Practically thinking, all humans abide these materialistic yet truthful rules. Religions, helping others, saving environment and et cetera are what come in between. But there is a complex involved. How much we earn and how much we eat? If you think about it, the answer is: A LOT!! That escorts some to a stimulating question: how much we should earn and how much we should eat?

The ultimate rule of temptation signifies that, as a human (who only possess one life and live it like it’s gonna end soon), we have no boundary in determining the level we eat. It can be concluded that, in order to tingle taste buds, we go to an extent of eating luxurious, exotic and rare species in huge amount. There is no second thought in determining the type of living creature that we eat. From reptiles to mammals, from innards and to toes, nothing seems to be stopping human's gastronomical demands.

If we really think about it, since there is no limit to what we eat, we tend to kill endangered species, eradicate left over populations, grow with no sense of humanity and eventually turn to into greedy piece of creatures. Being the most dominant population on earth, we satisfy our hunger, by going to the extent of war, robbery, murder and all sorts of crime imaginable just to get our meal of the day. This maybe one end of extreme to express but that what is happening to world now.

Eating excessively is not a felony but it can lead to one: the gateway sin. Being highlighted as one of the sins in Christianity, eating or consuming alcoholic beverages gets nearer to sin of gluttony. By consuming more than a limit, you tend to commit sins such as rape or murder. This is totally true when it comes to alcoholism. Whereas, by filling our stomach too much with solid food lead to obesity and laziness; in which direct to diseases and lack of productivity.
