You know this dude? He was the very first Yang dipertuan Agong who held the super position of Supreme Head of State from Negeri Sembilan. most of us knows him from text books or some old fables told by our grandparents. maybe we know him better if we view him as such ------->>>

yeahhhh! the most touched 'figure' in malaysia. hahaha! in all MYR notes, you can see this guys face. but most do not know the background of this guy. He is Tuanku Abdul Rahman ibni Almarhum Tuanku Muhammad and the very first agung of Malaysia.  and that triggered me to use my 'artistic skills' to redraw the figure somewhere like on the note.

A Prayer by Heart

“Pray, and let God worry”

prior to eating, before sleeping, upon waking up, appreciating something, wishing for some stuffs and et cetera, PRAYERs help us to make each day meaningful.  an imaginary request that is made to the Almighty in hope that he will listen and hopefully grant us what we wish for. however not all wishes are being granted. people say, almighty have his own plan for EACH individual on what he should get.

Q : why he create all of us and be bothered about what EACH of us should get or not get?

A : errrrrrmm….

it is always hard to create bunch of people and further more grant them wishes that they ask in line with their pre-destined fate. each of human mind desires for materialistic wishes, and some are not. both can be bad or good. to evaluate it, then to think which wish to grant to which people for certain individual’s goodness is mind baffling. it is complicated, right?

Q : so , how does God keep track of each individuals good deed and grant them their wishes?

A : errrmmmmm

Q : what is His ultimate reason for creating ONLY human as his devotees and “one-sidedly” fulfiling our wishes? ( be reminded animals doesnt pray, and that doesnt make them anonimous in the eyes of almighty )

to all human questions about religion and its fundamentals, we could not answer it spesifically, at least i admit i cant answer most of religious questions. in general people would answer it as, “God’s ultimate plan” . most of us would try to answer the questions above from your own belief and thinking, which fortifies his/her own religion without sensing the facts and truth about it. you will try to convince and tell yourself answer that does not create any doubt about religions to you. or at least,  it is for you to coax yourself that, the religion that you were relying on all these years will not disappoint you and it is  not fake. well, not your fault. it is the humans' defensive nature where avoiding questions that can quake your very foundations and answering them in a way that can satisfies YOU and only YOU. but what about mind baffling conspiracies and facts-defying questions about religion? it just get blown away. although religion makes so much confusions, it is undeniably the biggest industry that worth multi billion dollars without strong economical reason or material. all it takes is just BELIEVE.

it make more sense to me,  when you 'pray' to your heart, to your parents, to your friends where you know some change will occur and some effort is evident rather than making a false hope and keep counting on it without effort. an effortless prayer is easy but to initiate effort to make your wish come true is hard and does not rely on God. 

if all prayers are being granted, no one will appreciate the life as it is. and if you know not all prayers will be granted, why bother praying in the first place?

rather than praying to an imaginary figure, pray to yourself, to your people that surrounds you. make clear statements and prayers that does not only hope about something. pray for the effort in you, do not pray for miracle. pray for motivation in you, not luck and sudden happiness. it will be more practical and fulfilling. more like an appreciation or promise to evidential living creatures.

Religious Piety : Utter Confusion

the earth has been around the universe for quite number of years. millions to be exact. for the earth, there are few familiar stuffs that have been existing for ages. DINOSAURS, EARTHQUAKE, GREENERIES, HUMAN, RELIGION, GOD, and et cetera. since man exist, we created tonnes of stuffs that are controversial, ever-provocative and lack of global benefits. for instance, PETROLEUM, NUCLEAR, CURRENCY, PLASTICS, SCIENTIFIC LAWS, ZOO, VEHICLES ………. bla…. bla… bla…… you can start naming few and keep on going with the list. not to forgot to mention about religion. since its existence, it has done little goodness to little creatures on earth. notably, ONLY to humans.

let us ponder of what good religion has given to us :

1. building of ancient religious monuments
   
2. colonialism of territories
   
3. birth of numerous religious icons
   
4. invasion and evolution of human culture
   
5. ~cant name more than this. if you have any idea, drop a comment below. LOL ~

now, let us list down things that have been in wrong order since the existence of religion:

• solely unitary and individual awareness, not global
  
• religious wars that has no ending
  
• practice of taboos and rituals that has no good to human
  
• born of caste system and “group of untouchables”
  
• existence of man made religious laws that suppress own mankind and other creatures
  
• clash of thoughts even at fundamentals of religion among its own believers
  
• birth of various and different doctrines that barely speaks the same idea even under the same religion – which is confusing and diverts mutual focus

all these negative outcomes suppress the good ones that came from religion which make religion is thrifty to some (ps : to me too )

to all of our knowledge, religion nowadays is being spread only at tip of the tongue and there is no emphasis in global goodness.does that mean we need to go for single religion? in that case, which is the best? and how sure the best religion will give global goodness? and…, what IS the global goodness?  a lot of questions out of single thought. hahaah! 

religion is teaching. and it is evitable that, teaching in such way only comes with second hand information passing. and to me, religion does not work like that. the moment you receive and practice religion as per being taught to you, the main vision of religion fails. this idea works for all individuals. 

so to cut the story in short, religion makes clear-confusion, contradicting views, controversial thoughts and mind baffling questions.there is no evident religion that can answer mind’s logical questions like, “why god creates hell if he loves us?”, “what is the main reason for god to create animals and humans in the same planet?” and so on… so, the verdict? is still hanging helplessly in our imaginative mind.

Religion is true only to its devotees and God do exist only to believers. Anyone with mind on his own doesn’t necessarily have to be in any of the category.

tall story of salt rain

i basically wrote this weeks ago (24 january to be exact) a forgotten piece i would say, no memory came out about this til i saw this particular little “poem” in my laptop. an exaggerated metaphoric imagination of ocean waters turning into droplets, (that is undergoing evaporation)  and getting trapped in the sky as clouds. funny imagination

imagine that you are being one of the water molecules among the trillions which given hope to be able to fly to sky. and turns out to be nasty when you found out that you are getting trapped in the sky as clouds. very disappointing, right?. a lethal seduction that “pre-planned”; i would say, for us “to be” water molecules. (crazy way to ponder about water ) ~~indulge~~

an escape through surface

battle out for freedom

a fight for liberation

cry of the humble brine

for every drop of escape,

shows success of nature

tears of the salty waters

cruel curse for the ocean– wicked yet pleasing

from the ocean to the sky

tiny droplets rushed to heaven

looking down at the perfect earth

it was all none other than a huge blunder

sweet escape turned rancid

when the sky sets the limit

no escape no freedom

liberation is perfect fiction

pass time fable for insane

as the tiny waters concern,

escape is nothing

stuck in ambiguous space

it is the perfect trap

children's parents [ ERASER AND PENCIL ]

This is a story between a pencil and eraser which my father shared with me. I find it inspirational. =)

 

Pencil: I'm sorry

 

Eraser: For what? You didn't do anything wrong.

Pencil: I'm sorry because you get hurt because of me. Whenever I made a mistake, you're always there to erase it. But as you make my mistakes vanish, you lose a part of yourself. You get smaller and smaller each time.

Eraser: That's true. But I don't really mind. You see, I was made to do this. I was made to help you whenever you do something wrong. Even though one day, I know I'll be gone and you'll replace me with a new one, I'm actually happy with my job. So please, stop worrying. I hate seeing you sad.

I found this conversation between the pencil and the eraser very inspirational. Parents are like the eraser whereas their children are the pencil. They're always there for their children, cleaning up their mistakes. Sometimes along the way, they get hurt, and become smaller / older, and eventually pass on. Though their children will eventually find someone new (spouse), but parents are still happy with what they do for their children, and will always hate seeing their precious ones worrying, or sad.

 
All my life, I've been the pencil. And it pains me to see the eraser that is my parents getting smaller and smaller each day. For I know that one day, all that I'm left with would be eraser shavings and memories of what I used to have.
 

This is to all the parents and children out there.

“was peacefully proceeding my evening plan of going Sri Subramaniar Temple of Kajang after my work. took the bus. paid the money and silently have my butt rested on tiny bench provided. an old man of age 70 plus saunter slowly into the bus with some vegetables in hand (baru habis shopping. lol. ) i stood up to give some space for him to sit but he sat on the bench which was offered by a Malay girl.sweet and kind. they were chatting. the time for the old man to get to his home was nearing. he told the bus driver to stop. and he did. the old man tried to get down the torturing stairs. we waited for him to get down. silence haunted the whole bus. looking at the poor old man struggling to get down. after exact time of a minute and 25 seconds, he managed to put his sole on ground; getting down 3 small stair steps. sudden silence was broken by a aunty saying:”

aunty : kesian orang tua tu . dah tak larat tapi kena jugak beli sayur. anak apa guna? anak zaman sekarang satu sen pun tak boleh pakai.

bus driver : pe nak buat mak cik? dah takdir. Allah je la yang patut beri balasan.

**this post is not to discuss how reckless the younger generations are but it is to remind the children nowadays of their parents who need extra care in  their old ages.

that was the short scene drama happened; happening; and will happen in future. maybe the conversation was over-generalized or stereotyped by the lady saying “children nowadays are useless”. that expression made me to ponder: are we that cruel?

growing up in custom-rich society and who respects elderly people, it is normal for us (children) to be expected to look after parents in their golden ages. it posts a big responsibilities on the children where it is the time now for the children to take care of their parents. nothing extreme in that. but letting a stranger to label you as ‘useless’ is something that caught my attention.

just imagine, what it takes for a perfect stranger to say out of concern at a man who struggle to get down 3 little steps because of his tormenting knees. certainly need to be pondered. 

ethical issues such  as this worth given much attention as it may carve the civic consciousness and moral standing of upcoming society, a.k.a the younger generations. abiding responsibilities are individuals decision and up to their own rationale thinking. but duties concerning our parents and piety towards them are vital must be adhered so that we can be positive role model to others.

the level of morality towards elderly people can be roughly approximated by the amount of the residents in orphanage and old folks homes. not all who lives there abandoned by their family but there are tiny miny amongst us who does not take good care of their parents at times they need us the most.

its a book. Its a novel. trusted to be a good literature source for secondary school students of Malaysia. But, once revised, it is very decaptivating to know that the lines of the Malay language literature piece; Interlok contains terms that refers to the Indians as immigrants and low caste untouchables (Pariah). Very DEMOTIVATING and certainly not a trait of a good writer that suppose to create national-based-patriotism. but instead more to invoking racial difference issues and indirectly giving access to the NEW youngsters of indian minority to be labelled as what was described by the author of that malay novel, Abdullah Hussain, one of Malaysia's renowned author.

the book tells a chronology of different racial background people in malaya and how is the integrity of these citizens (To know the synopsis of the novel, -in malay language- click this!). Very well developed core story but definitely not the most intelligent way to present it. This novel that made compulsory by Kementerian Pelajaran Malaysia (Malaysian Ministry of Education) as Form 5 literature texts was then, debated as a provocative literature piece later by malaysian indians. Why things approved by government bodies was opposed? are these indians had their brains leaked anyhow? certainly NOT!

if there should be a blame, it must be on the authorities, where approving such materials at national level is ultimate absurdity knowing that it can create countless dissatisfactions. Insensitive as the way, maybe, clearly it is not the cleaverest move by the author or the approving authorities. As what the quote in the beginning suggest, we are slowly moving into interconnected relationship despite racial backgrounds, but provoking thoughts about origin, diversity or any racial based comments certainly would create nasty outcome. This specific issue of interlok have triggered response from many sides.

1. individuals that would want to protect (as though its something under the terrorist attack) the original copy (that possess those inappropriate terms) and continue it as formal literature texts - click here
2. individuals that finds its 'OKAY' with the literature text and prefer not to make that a big issue
3. the one who feel offended with the terms used
4. political minded people who want to make it an issue
5. some individuals that want those terms to be maintained so that the Indians can learn their origins.

Article of Makkal Osai - "BAN INTERLOK"

what is really wrong with these sort of people? by the way, i categorize myself to be #3.  Intentions and the action taken to deal this matter seems to be reckless and unworthy. Recently I have joined a function in conjunction of Ponggal Festival held in Bandar Rinching, Selangor. That event was officiated by ADUN Semenyih. And he said that, the book is to be a  national patriotism-promoting literature piece that must be accepted. Furthermore, he justified that it to be in parallel of the One Malaysia concept. And we (Indian Community) need to look the positive part of it. That strucked my mind to as a question, "then what about the ONE AND ONLY NEGATIVE PART?".  Again, not a clever way to justify crime of disrespecting the diversity and cultural background of the Indians. If people like this exist and spread the misleading ideas like these, then there should be bigger bunch of followers nodding their head .

recently i have also participated in the poll conducted by Berita Harian (left mid-bottom) that ask the majority feedback on What To Do To The Novel? doesn't this show how inefficient of authorities can be in solving a national problem? to me, it is not more than, publicity for the daily, more fancy promises to the community by politicians and poor decision making in dealing the problem. If corrective measures were taken on time, there is no need for Berita Harian to even 'ask' the citizens back on what is the best decision that can be taken. FAIL! and most, 66.22% agreed to mantain the novel with its original contents. What?? dont you know that matters regarding on racial issues, is best dealt to satisfy all sides rather than one? this result shows how many one sided thinkers there are in Malaysia. Again DEMOCRACY FAIL!

for me, in my opinion:

• change the offensive words (a.k.a Ctrl+F >> Find&Replace) to better term
• author to apologise on the chaos created
• authorities to be very spesifc on these sort of sensitive issues
• government (Kementrian Pelajaran Malaysia) to be attentive on issues regarding their own department
• people of any race must not take this advantage to use the terms (Pariah & pendatang) to tease,, humiliate or politicizenthis issue.
• involving parties, (esp PENA) to monitor any novels to be sensitive and provocative
• and to the Indians - stay in tact and Think Right!! 

and i know, making these sort of post would make no difference but at least evoke the consciousness in people that we are different in origin wise, but not in the way we think. let us make not another mistake like May13 or Hindraf issues. THINK RIGHT!
